21. Universum technique of development of the management information system of enterprises [№3 за 2009 год]

Abstract: The article is about the universum technique witch based on the idea of ranging functions of enterprise sectors as to the quality of material and information streams. Such technique allows carrying out an integration of existing management information systems of an enterprise into unified system. It also creates a universal base for the development of new principles of designing and organizes work of various enterprises in common information space.

23. Physically based model of light propagation in a fabric [№3 за 2009 год]

Abstract: A new original approach to simulation of light propagation in a fabric is discussed in the paper. The approach is based on a confirmed assumption that cloth yarns are scattering media. The paper proposes a way to calculate the yarn’s Bi-directional Sub-Surface Scattering Reflectance Distribution Function (BSSRDF) via a Monte-Carlo ray tracing simulation of scattering and absorption of light within yarn’s volume. Then Bi-directional Reflectance Distribution Function (BRDF) of a yarn is obtained by integrating the yarn’s BSSRDF over the yarn’s surface which is approximated by a cylinder. The elaborated method produces visually plausible results and demonstrates qualitative agreement of light scattering by virtual model of cloth and real cloth sample. The light scattering of a real cloth is acquired via direct measurement performed with a proprietary measurement apparatus.

25. Reconstruction of planar objects from microscopic images [№3 за 2009 год]

Abstract: In this paper we propose a new method for 3D reconstruction of planar objects from a set of microscopic images. We present a novel unreliable depth estimates rejection procedure for shape from focus family of algorithms. Also we introduce a new method to determine if a plane can be reliably estimated from a number of points in 3D space. Results of experiments on real world data, demonstrating high precision and reliability of a proposed method, are presented.

Abstract: Polygonal models of the objects from the real world often are used in virtual reality scenes. A lot of methods for creation and reconstruction of polygonal models are available nowadays. The acquisition of complex realistic models of the reflectance properties of materials and their photorealistic interactive rendering are still important problems in the computer graphics. In this work we focus on the process of the acquisition of the complex realistic models of reflectance properties of the material of the real world objects from their photographs.
