Arefyev Igor Borisovich – Dr.Sc. (Engineering), Professor of the Naval Academy of Poland.

Honoured worker of higher education of the Russian Federation

Fellow of International Informatization Academy of UN, Academy of Geopolitics and Security, International Transport Academy. A member of the editorial boards of “Geopolitics and Security” and “Software & Systems” journals. He is a founder and a research advisor of the section “Theory, methods and controls” in DU RAN (Scientists’ House of RAS) in St. Petersburg. A senator of the Maritime University of Szczecin. Since 2007 Igor Arefyev has his name written in the Gold book “Top Scientists of the United Europe”. He is a laureate of two prizes and medals of VDNKh USSR.

Igor Arefyev has finished the St. Petersburg State University for Waterway Communications (now Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping) with honors. Since 1968 he has been working at different engineering positions in the system of marine and inland fleet of USSR.

In 1979 Igor Arefyev has become an associated professor, in 1992 – a professor of the North-Western Technical University of Distance Learning.

In 1994 he has founded a faculty of System analysis and Forecasting, in 1995 he has founded a Department of forecasting theory and methods in the North-Western Technical University of Distance Learning and is being in charge of it now. This department is the first in Russia to start preparing bachelors and masters in this academic field.

Igor Arefyev has written more than 200 papers in Russian, English and Polish for including 7 monographs, 2 textbooks, 5 papers for a Philadelphia list, 16 articles for Higher Attestation Commission journals in Russia. He supervised 6 Ph.D. students and 2 Dr.Sc.

He has national awards.
